It’s been a busy and challenging month for most of us and very quickly we have had to find ways of evolving our training and communications so that they can be delivered or performed remotely, as successfully as face to face.
Here at Crosby Management Training we have been innovating our delivery models by incorporating a selection of remote learning tools into our practice and I would like to share some of those with you in the hope you have as much success with them as we have had.
Loom is a platform that allows you to make quick videos using a lightning-fast video recorder capable of capturing your screen, webcam, and microphone. You can record demonstrations for your students or even talk over a PowerPoint. Very usefully, it comes as an extension to the chrome browser and the free version has plenty of functionality.
Hypersay is a solution that helps you create interactive presentations to improve engagement. You can keep your audience interested with live slide sharing, private notes, questions, and polls. You can link directly to your audience’s devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones. They can engage themselves in your presentation by asking questions, answering quizzes, and following your slides in real time on their gadgets. It has subtitle, built in video and live streaming options. The best feature of all if the fact that you can upload and use PowerPoints that you already have.
Why would you use a form or a chatbot when you could just be you? With VideoAsk, get face-to-face with your audience in a simple and fast way. Collect feedback on your product and learn from your audience. Collect testimonials to promote your brand. Get personal with your website visitors and collect more leads. Save time when hiring by getting to know your applicants. VideoAsk makes collecting responses from your audience easy & engaging.
Prezi is a web-based tool for creating presentations (called prezis for short). It’s similar to other presentation software like Microsoft PowerPoint, but it offers some unique features that make it a good alternative. In recent years, it has become popular in schools and businesses. If you’re looking to create a presentation that’s a bit more eye-catching and engaging, Prezi may be for you.
If you’re not familiar with Kahoot, it’s a web-based program that allows presenters to pose questions who then respond from a selection of answers electronically on their own devices. It records the answer each person gives to a question, as well as how quickly they respond, so, for example, it can be used for compliancy quizzes to great effect. Ultimately, it a fun and engaging tool that can be used to challenge and assess learners.
Mentimeter allows you to engage and interact with your target audience in real-time. It is a polling tool wherein you can set the questions and your target audience can give their input using a mobile phone or any other device connected to the Internet. Mentimeter helps you become a better-skilled presenter by giving you more engaging presentations as well as getting unbiased input during your meetings. It is easy to use, enabling you to turn your audience’s opinions into real-time tangible and actionable data.
For those of us, and I hold my hand up, who get distracted when working remotely there is a clever little tool called Pomodoro Timer. The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. Each interval is known as a pomodoro, from the Italian word for ‘tomato’, after the tomato-shaped kitchen timer that Cirillo used as a university student. Excellent if you feel yourself drifting away from that ever so important project or email you just cant seem to concentrate on.
A robust video conferencing app, Zoom integrates meetings, video webinars, phone calls, conference rooms and instant-messaging tools. With Zoom, people can connect by utilising audio and video tools—for synchronous remote lectures, asynchronous video assignments or even virtual office hours. People can chat with one another in real-time, in secure password-protected virtual rooms. Breakout rooms can also be leveraged for different tutorial sections or for group-based learning.
If you haven’t had chance to see these in action Crosby Management Training have been hosting webinars in which the uses and functionality of each is demonstrated and discussed.
Look out, on LinkedIn (link at the bottom of the page), for the next one.
Stay safe everyone, stay engaged and keep communicating!
