We are delighted to announce that our HR Apprentice, Saarah Zaman, has been appointed to the IfATE panel of Apprentices assigned to the Business Administration Route. Sarah works for Severn Trent PLC and is currently completing her HR Consultant Partner Apprenticeship with us.
The main purpose of the panel is to ensure that the views of apprentices are represented across the work and governance of the Institute. The panel decides for itself which issues to focus on and can advise and challenge the Board. Members of the panel are currently helping to develop content aimed at apprentices, for the Institute website.
Upon joining the panel, Saarah stated her reasons for joining the Panel: ‘ I wanted to do this because I am super-passionate about apprenticeships. I was selected as a finalist for the BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnics) apprenticeship awards in the financial, legal and professional services category. I act as mentor for new apprentices at my company and have participated in the World Skills Show at the NEC for the past two years, showcasing why apprenticeships should be considered by young people. I aim to contribute to the panel by sharing views and concerns that I hope will help drive improvements to the system’.
Below you will see Saarah, along with Ayaz Khan, HR Support Apprentice from National College for High Speed Rail, chatting to us about their experience attending our Snowdonia residential. Saarah recently told us ‘it was an amazing experience, really showcasing the importance of flexibility and resilience. I’d do it again in a heartbeat!’ As a member of the IfATE board, our CEO Paul Cadman, is looking forward to being advised and challenged by Saarah and her fellow panel members.
